Consultation has concluded
We're looking at upgrading Christina Terrace Reserve in Dingley Village to provide a public place that can be enjoyed and loved by the whole community.
Earlier plans for the site had been put on hold after requests from residents to remove play elements from the plan, and to undertake investigations into the condition of the park’s pond and its ongoing sustainability.
Investigations have shown the following:
The pond at the reserve is losing significant volumes of drinking water each year, indicating a leak or multiple leaks.
The pond is filled only using valuable drinking water, as there is no storm water connection to the pond.
South East Water metre readings show the pond used approximately 1,200 KL of water over the past year, which is three times the volume of the pond and equivalent to about half the size of an Olympic swimming pool.
Due to the leakage and wastage of drinking water, it is proposed to remove the pond from the park and replace it with an increased park area available for public use.
We want you to have a say in the features that can be enjoyed by the community and incorporated into an updated plan.
