Barker Street Reserve

In 2018, Council purchased two properties at 8–10 Barker Street, for the purpose of increasing public open space in the suburb of Cheltenham.

A draft landscape concept plan illustrating the proposed new Barker Street Reserve is featured on this page. We want you to ‘Have Your Say’ on the elements that need to be considered in the development of this new park plan, to ensure it reflects community needs and values.

The small park contains walking paths, a central lawn space, outdoor gym, seating and picnic areas.

You can help by contacting Council with your feedback, or by completing the survey below.

What we aim to achieve

  • Key elements of the project include:
  • Walking paths, providing connection and access
  • A central lawn space
  • An outdoor gym
  • Canopy shade tree plantings with additional boundary screen planting and
    understory planting
  • Furniture, including a picnic table and concrete bench seating
  • Raised planting beds

Construction time frames
It is anticipated that demolition of 8 & 10 Barker Street will occur in May 2019. Construction of new park will commence July 2019.
