Sporting upgrades at Aspendale Gardens Reserve (Kerr Cres) - stage 1 consultation

JUNE 2019:

Council is updating residents on plans to create new sporting facilities in Aspendale Gardens at Kerr Crescent Reserve and to invite you to take part in the next round of community consultation on the project.

The project has been split into two stages with Stage 1 works to begin in coming months to create the sporting fields and provide car parking with the aim of commencing games at the site from April 2020.

Stage 2 works to develop the pavilion would then follow at a later stage.

Council is now seeking input on the proposed design of the car park and sports lighting.

Car Parking

Features of the proposed new car park design include:

  • 110 car parking bays, including disabled car parking bays
  • Car park lighting
  • Access and exiting from Kerr Crescent
  • Timed access via automatic gate/retractable bollards (permitted access is from sunrise through to 11pm)
  • Landscaping

Sports Lighting

Features of the new sports lighting include:

  • 12 x 28m light poles
  • Timing device to be installed to regulate hours of use (not exceeding 9.30pm)
  • Achieve club competition (junior) and match practice lighting levels for both AFL and soccer – minimum of 100 lux
  • Lighting levels at residential boundaries to be less than 10 lux, as per Australian Standards and certified by lighting engineer.

Council has prepared draft designs for the car park and sports lighting locations, and is keen to hear community feedback.

We're also holding a community drop-in information session 10am-12pm on Saturday 22 June at the Aspendale Gardens Community Centre to answer any questions you have about the draft designs to help inform your submission.
