Consultation has concluded
Council has released its Draft Budget for 2017/18, allowing us to continue delivering a broad range of services, infrastructure maintenance and new projects that will strengthen our City.
A $58.4 million investment in capital works features a wide range of projects and initiatives to support the Kingston community.
Budget highlights
Maintaining vital community infrastructure including road and footpath repairs ($6.7 million), drainage works ($3.4 million) and streetlight replacements ($2.9 million). These vital works are part of Council’s ongoing and significant investment in community asset renewal.
Major redevelopment of Mordialloc’s Ben Kavanagh Reserve with $3 million allocated this year to continue work on a new double-storey pavilion and upgrades around the park.
Continuing with the Bay Trail project to provide a shared walking/bike path from Mentone to Mordialloc, with Council’s contribution of $1.6 million in this year’s budget.
Providing connected communities,learning and development through the $1 million book stock purchases for our libraries.
Being well governed and planning for the future through a $3 million new depot development.
Promoting an active and healthy community through major investments in local parks and sporting facilities to strengthen local sporting clubs and encourage greater participation. Projects include:
Edithvale Life Saving Club redevelopment ($1.6 million)
Cliff Sambell pavilion development at the Gerry Green Reserve ($1.4 million)
Dales Park Masterplan implementation ($1.6 million).
Supporting the transition away from landfill use in Kingston’s Green Wedge through a $2 million investment to remediate and landscape former landfill sites.

An Information Session will be held on Wednesday 10 May where our staff will be on hand to discuss and answer any questions you may have about the Draft Council Plan 2017-21 and Draft Budget 2017/18.

This form is for making a formal submission to the Draft Budget 2017/18.
If a person wishes to be heard in support of their submission, they must include the request to be heard in the written submission and this will entitle them to appear in person, or by a person acting on their behalf.
A Special Council Meeting will be held on Monday 5 June 2017 from 7pm at 1230 Nepean Highway, Cheltenham to consider submissions received.
Please note that copies of submissions (including submitters’ names and addresses) may be made available at the meeting at which the above proposed documents will be considered. Council is also required to make submissions available for public inspection for a period of 12 months. Formal adoption of the Council Plan and Budget is proposed at a Special Meeting of Council on Tuesday 13 June 2017.
