Cheltenham - proposed temporary changes to parking conditions

Level Crossing Removal works at Cheltenham have required the closure of the station car park – which has resulted in very limited all-day parking for community members catching the train to work.

Council wants to temporarily provide extra all-day parking in streets near Cheltenham station.

At the moment a number of local streets in Cheltenham have timed restrictions on both sides with no all-day parking provided. This is unusual, with most time restrictions in Kingston applied only to one side of the road to provide a mix to balance the different needs of the community.

Proposed temporary changes
Council proposes removing the 4P 8am-5pm timed parking restrictions on one side of the street to provide all-day parking on (see map below):

The north side of:
  • Cameron Street
  • Page Street
  • Tuck Street
  • Hoffman Street (between Edward Street and Elman Street)
The west side of
  • Courtney Street
  • Hoffman Street (between Cameron Street and Tuck Street)
  • Nepean Highway Service Road

Marked parking bays
Some residents had flagged they were concerned about parked cars obstructing driveways. To help combat this, Council will be installing ‘hockey stick’ line markings to clearly show where it is safe to park in the street. Line markings will be installed within the next 4-6 weeks.
