Gerry Green Reserve

The Gerry Green Reserve has .ultiple uses for most ages. It has a football ground with renovated stand, quite a few tennis courts that can be used day or night, parking for the courts and football ground primarily which is non surfaced, plus a playground that has impressively expanded since I last visited there 20 years ago. The day I visited was a cold overcast day, there was one child playing alone with her adult companion keeping sheltered and warm in the car parked in the street. I was impressed with the cricket practice pitches there and the great variety of thing for children to play on. There was nothing for an adult to do there really, nor a sheltered area to sit from the chilly wind if sitting stationary. There was a seat under a tree for shade in summer. The little girl at the park loved the swing. I also saw a few dog owners pass by through the Reserve with dogs on leads, doing the right thing. A really marvellous sporting space, I would probably go here myself if there was an area with adult gym equipment. I went here with a girlfriend much younger than me, she is 34, it was interesting hearing what as teens she got up to, such as sitting on the top of the cricket pitch practice cage smoking cigarettes with friends back in her youth, she climbed over the fortress, went down the slide and did not like the raised bump in the middle moulded in the bottom of the slide. I felt the wooden poles that were on either side of the fortress were tempting and a bit dangerous, looking like steps, but really not safe to try walking down or up. I hope you enjoy the rather overcast photos.

EDIT: I cannot seem to find a place here to upload photos in "Stories: apologies.
