Development proposal for 2 & 2A Station Street Moorabbin
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on LinkedinEmail this link
Kingston Council has been approached by the owner of 2 and 2A Station Street Moorabbin regarding a proposed redevelopment of the site for a hotel.
The owner has approached Council seeking consent to lodge a planning permit application that would include a portion of Council-owned land as part of the development. The proposed development would impact on a number of public car parking spaces directly in front of the site but would also allow for renewal and improvements to the streetscape.
Council is seeking community input on the request before determining whether, in its capacity as the landowner, it would or would not be supportive of the owner lodging an application that includes Council land.
Please note: If Council did consent to the inclusion of its land in the application, this would not mean that Council will approve the proposed development. Any future planning permit application lodged with Council would be considered on its merits.
What is proposed?
The proposal seeks to develop the land for a nine-storey hotel including:
· Lobby and two retail tenancies at ground floor
· First floor office
· 63 hotel rooms over 7 floors
· 24 car parking spaces within basement serviced by a valet
How much car parking would be impacted?
The proposal seeks to use approximately 120m2 of Council-owned land which would result in a reduction of four car parks – from the existing six spaces down to two spaces (see diagram in document library).
Have your say
Council is keen to hear from the community before providing feedback to the owner in relation the proposed use of Council land as part of the development.
