Play your way at Follett Road Reserve!
Update on the Follett Road Reserve playspace upgrade, Cheltenham
In 2025, we consulted with the local community on our draft concept design for the playground upgrade at Follett Road Reserve in Cheltenham. Thank you to everyone who took the time to provide feedback!
We heard your feedback and have adjusted the design to support your needs.
The final design includes:
- Monkey bars and a round trampoline
- Accessible basket swing and junior swing
- Imaginative play sculptures themed around native animals.
- Open grass area and rubber softfall surface
- Carved timber seating and play elements
- New native trees and plantings
- Higher fencing with a single pedestrian and maintenance gate for safety.
- Accessible picnic table and seating, bicycle parking, drinking fountain, dog bowl, bin, and new signage.
The design builds on the park’s existing character - keeping the open grass area and mature trees that provide natural shade, and a relaxed neighbourhood feel.
Construction
Construction works are due to commence in late-2026, weather permitting.
Follett Road Reserve will be closed throughout the works, with temporary fencing installed for the safety of the community. We look forward to delivering this exciting project for the local community

Designing your playground
In 2023, over 2,500 of our residents had their say about the future of play in Kingston - and it's clear: you love our playgrounds just as much as we do! Through a series of events and workshops, complemented by an interactive online survey and a playground design tool, we connected with a diverse range of our residents - from toddlers to seniors. Community feedback helped shape the Play Your Way Strategy.
