We’re excited to be planning an upgrade to the playspace at Follett Road Reserve in Cheltenham – and we’d love to hear your thoughts!

A draft design has been developed for the reserve, reimagining this small, fenced corner park into a more engaging, accessible and social space for the community to play, relax and connect.

Highlights of the proposed draft design include:

  • Imaginative and interactive play sculptures themed around native animals.
  • Accessible basket swing and junior swing seat to cater for all abilities.
  • Round trampoline for active play.
  • Rubber softfall surface incorporating artwork.
  • Enhanced landscaping designed to promote nature play experiences, including carved timber table, seats and play elements.
  • Central curved seating with backrests and bench options for supervision and relaxation.
  • Upgraded access, including improved pedestrian gates, fencing, and a compacted granitic gravel path.
  • Supporting amenities such as a drinking fountain, dog bowl, bin, and wayfinding signage.
  • New native planting including trees to provide shade and enrich the natural environment.

The design builds on the park’s existing character - keeping the open grass area and mature trees that provide natural shade, and a relaxed neighbourhood feel.

We’d love to know what you think about the draft design and how well it reflects how you and your family like to play, relax and enjoy the space.

Designing your playground

In 2023, over 2,500 of our residents had their say about the future of play in Kingston - and it's clear: you love our playgrounds just as much as we do! Through a series of events and workshops, complemented by an interactive online survey and a playground design tool, we connected with a diverse range of our residents - from toddlers to seniors. Community feedback helped shape the Play Your Way Strategy.
