Feedback has concluded.

Thank you to the 1400+ community members who took the time to share their thoughts on a hard waste service upgrade. Due to the overwhelmingly positive feedback we received, Council endorsed the hard waste service upgrade at the September Council Meeting. From July 2023, residents will receive two free on-call hard waste collections per year, at whatever time suits them! This will replace the annual, hard waste collection in September/October.

We will be sharing more details on the hard waste service upgrade next year. If you would like to be notified by email when bookings open for the new service, subscribe for hard waste updates.

Background

We've been listening to our community and know that many residents would like a more flexible approach to hard waste collections in Kingston. That's why we're thinking of upgrading our hard waste collection service to two free collections per financial year, at whatever time is most convenient for you!

The hard waste service upgrade would replace the annual city-wide collection in September/October - however if this is your preferred time of year for a collection, you would be welcome to book your hard waste collection during these months. There would be no changes to the hard waste disposal guidelines, it would be the same service, with more booking flexibility.

Our aim is to modernise our hard waste collection service to suit the community's needs, while also offering a service that lowers the instances of illegally dumped rubbish in Kingston. This in turn would lower the amount of waste sent to landfill while increasing recycling.
