We’re proposing to install solar lighting in Keeley Park to improve visibility along the pathways connecting Clarevale Street, Cleary Court and Main Road in Clayton South.
Following recent requests for improved lighting at Keeley Park, we’re proposing to install 14 solar lights along the southern pathways. The lights will provide Australian Standard-compliant lighting levels from dusk to dawn, helping to improve safety and visibility while balancing energy use and minimising impacts on residents and wildlife.
The proposal includes:
Targeted lighting - lighting will be focused on the pathways, with minimal light spill. Visors will help control light, reducing impacts on nearby residents and wildlife.
Minimal disturbance -lighting does not require excavation trenching between poles, which ensures minimal disturbance to vegetation and the surrounding environment.
Smart technology - remote monitoring will allow Council to manage the lighting and ensure it operates only when needed.
Seasonal operation -during winter, the lights will operate mainly around dawn and dusk, balancing safety with energy efficiency.
Ongoing monitoring - Council will continue to monitor the lighting and make adjustments if needed to support safety and protect the local environment.
This project forms part of Council’s ongoing commitment to improving the safety, accessibility and amenity of open spaces across Kingston.
