Proposed Renaming of Jackson Green Park
Consultation has concluded
Council is undertaking community consultation on the proposed renaming of public open space in Clayton South.
Kingston Council has received a naming request from the developers behind the Jackson Green housing development regarding naming of a new open space area.
Where is it located: The open space is located within the Jackson Green master planned community, bordered by Celeste Walk, Lomandra Dr and Featherwood St, as well as the linear park bordered by Lomandra Dr, Orchid St and Haughton Rd in the suburb of Clayton South.
Why has this name been suggested?
The proposed name Jackson Green Park has been inspired by the Port Jackson Fig Tree which formerly occupied a prominent location in the centre of the linear park adjacent to Orchid St. The tree directly inspired the name 'Jackson Green' for the new housing development.
Naming Process
In order to proceed with this naming proposal, Council must follow the Rules for Naming Places in Victoria provided by the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning which includes a requirement to undertake public consultation seeking feedback on the proposed renaming.
