Consultation has concluded

Background

The Victorian Government announced on July 29 it will be removing two additional Level Crossings in Kingston at Warrigal Road, Mentone and Parkers Road, Parkdale.

Limited information has been provided via the Level Crossing Removal website. It states:

"On the Frankston line 2 more dangerous and congested crossings will be removed at Mentone and Parkdale, with the preferred solution to build rail bridges between Mentone and Parkdale and a new station at Parkdale, creating almost 2 MCGs worth of new community space with playgrounds, recreational activity facilities and shared user paths.

It will also improve local connectivity with the beach."

If you have further questions about the project or wish to provide your feedback directly to the Level Crossing Removal Project team, contact them via the helpline on 1800 105 105

A number of other level crossings have been removed in Kingston. See the FAQ section for a description and photographs to illustrate the range of options used in the area in the past.

What is Council's role?

Council has requested an urgent briefing with the LXRP to find out further details of the project.

We are conducting this consultation to help inform our advocacy to the Victorian Government on behalf of our community.

We need your input to help make sure this once-in-a-generation project is delivered with the best results for the community.
