Consultation closed on Monday 28 April.

Project update

In April 2025, we consulted with the local community on our draft design for a Nature Park at Swallow Reserve in Dingley Village. Thank you to everyone who took the time to provide feedback!

We heard your concerns and have adjusted the design to support your needs. Vegetation will be reduced to allow more lawn area to support informal ball play on site.

The final design includes:

  • Native trees
  • Native low shrub and grass planting
  • Native shrub planting along perimeter
  • Boulder seating under the existing Swamp Gum
  • Granitic gravel path
  • Open lawn space

Construction

The works will be delivered in two stages. Works on the new path and seating area will commence in late May 2025, plantings will commence once path works are complete.

We look forward to delivering this exciting project for the local community!

As part of our commitment under the City of Kingston Urban Forest Strategy 2023-30 we are working to create high-quality parks and increase canopy cover for the entire community.

As part of this, we are excited to introduce a new initiative – a Nature Park at Swallow Reserve in Dingley Village!

The draft design for the Nature Park includes the planting of 22 new trees and over 2,000 plants, all chosen to enhance tree coverage and support local habitats within the reserve.

The design features include:

  • Native trees
  • Native low shrub and grass planting
  • Native shrub planting along perimeter
  • Boulder seating under the existing Swamp Gum
  • Granitic gravel path
