Our community engagement commitment

A community is more likely to feel trust and confidence in its local government if they are engaged in and involved with its governance. That means the community is informed and provided with the opportunity to participate in a Council’s decision making process.

We are better together.

Engagement with our community and working together is at the core of Kingston’s values. To realise this, our governance and decision making needs to be based on a solid understanding of what the Kingston community needs and wants.

This understanding can be achieved through clear and meaningful community engagement, with a commitment to engage participants at the highest level where possible.

The City of Kingston follows the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) Public Participation Spectrum, which sets out the promise being made to the public at each participation level.

We also welcome and encourage all community members to participate in the decision making process by attending or live streaming Council Meetings, which are held regularly throughout the year.
