Permanent Piazza at Owen Street, Mordialloc
Consultation has concluded.
Following the permanent road closure at the northern section of Owen Street in Mordialloc, we're planning a permanent piazza to help create an inviting and accessible outdoor space for the community to meet, relax and spend time with family and friends while they shop and dine locally.
We recognise that local shopping strips are where people like to engage with others and come together. We also know our Mordialloc traders have done it tough in recent years and the development of this vibrant outdoor space may help attract more customers, while supporting them to operate in a COVIDSafe way.
Following the feedback received from local traders and residents regarding the temporary piazza installation at Owen Street, we developed a concept plan for permanent improvements, and would now like your feedback on the design. Proposed permanent improvements at the Owen Street Piazza in Mordialloc include:
- Creating a social gathering space for the local community with picnic tables, umbrellas, bike racks and bins
- Installation of solar powered lighting, including fairy lights
- Road painting artwork

Construction timeline
The temporary furniture will be removed from the piazza area in early July. We anticipate concept plans for the permanent design will be finalised in early August, with works to commence in early October, and the new outdoor activation improvements to be complete by the end of October, COVID-19 restrictions and weather permitting.
