Consultation has concluded

Council is responding to community concerns about traffic and safety in Parkdale.

Council is suggesting a range of treatments to slow traffic and improve safety in the area east of Nepean Highway.

We are looking at the area bordered by Keith, Victoria, Wild, Ellen, McSwain and Marriott Streets in Parkdale.

The proposed changes aim to address concerns about high volumes of traffic on local roads and motorists using the area as a cut-through.

Between 2009 and 2015, Council undertook extensive consultation with residents about traffic safety along Thames Promenade.

We are now seeking community input on several new proposed safety upgrades.

  • Project 1: Installing speed calming devices including flattop speed humps and speed cushions along Imes Street, Chandler Street, Macgregor Street, Victoria Street and Keith Street.
  • Project 2: Modify the Nepean Highway and Keith Street intersection to improve pedestrian safety and slow vehicle travelling speed.
  • Project 3: Install a speed hump at the Elm Grove and Nepean Highway intersection to slow vehicle travelling speed at the location.
  • Project 4: Install a School Crossing at the intersection of Mountview Avenue, Brownfield Avenue and Davey Street and remove some on-street parking at the location as a result of the school crossing.

Project 1: Installing speed calming devices including flattop speed humps and speed cushions along Imes Street, Chandler Street, Macgregor Street, Victoria Street and Keith Street.

What is proposed: Installing a total of 12 speed calming devices (a mix of speed humps, speed cushings and flat-top speech humps).
Where: View the map of the proposed locations and types in the Document Library at the right-hand side of this page.
