In October 2025, we consulted with local clubs, regular reserve users, and the broader community including dog walkers and people who use the open space for informal recreation.

Your feedback has helped refine the design and will guide how the facility is used, ensuring it remains fair, safe, and inclusive for everyone.

Based off feedback received we have:

  • Low level fencing to be installed to assist in containing balls within the area of play;

  • No perimeter fencing installed ensuring public access outside of organised sport;

  • Install services to future proof amenities in the future.

  • Install a drink tap at Pitch 5; and

  • Consideration and investigation of path lighting, to ensure user safety.

The final design includes:

  • A new natural turf playing surface (Pitch 5)
  • New lighting towers to support evening training and matches
  • Two player shelters to improve comfort and usability
  • Improved granitic path and supporting amenities.

Timing and impacts

Works will commence on Thursday 30 July 2026, completion is expected in April 2027 (weather permitting).

While the new pitch is under construction, existing sport activity and access to the sportsground will continue.

For the community’s safety, temporary fencing will be in place around the works zone. We will minimise disruption wherever possible while maintaining a safe work site. We look forward to delivering this exciting project for the local community.

We’re planning an upgrade to the Kingston Heath Soccer Complex in Cheltenham - and we want your input!

This project will create a new turf pitch designed to support female participation in soccer and promote equitable access for all users of the complex. The design includes lighting, players’ boxes, and accessible granitic paths connecting into the broader reserve.

A key outcome is that the new pitch also remains available for general community use when not being used for soccer, with:

  • minimal or no fencing
  • mitigation of light impact to native fauna
  • protection of existing trees and root zones, and
  • connections to surrounding open space

Your feedback will help refine the design and shape how the facility is used to ensure fair, safe, and inclusive access for everyone.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on:

  • The draft design for the new pitch - including lighting, layout, and access paths.
  • How the design can best support women and girls in sport.
  • How you currently use Kingston Heath Reserve.
  • How community access should be managed when the pitch isn’t in use for soccer.
  • Any opportunities or concerns related to shared use of the open space (e.g., dogs off-leash, informal recreation).
