Consultation has concluded

The Proposed Meeting Procedures (Amendment) Local Law governs the decision making process of Council.

Council is currently seeking feedback on the Proposed Meeting Procedures (Amendment) Local Law. The purpose and general purport of the proposed Local Law is to amend the Principal Local Law by requiring an amendment to a motion to call for an officer report if the amendment commits the Council to expenditure in excess of $25,000 and that has not been included in the adopted budget.

Hardcopies of the proposed Local Law can be obtained from Council’s Customer Service Centre at the following locations:

  • Cheltenham Main Office

    8.30am-5.00pm
  • Chelsea Office (co-located with the Library)
    1 Chelsea Road Chelsea, 3196
    10.00am-2.00pm

Any person may make a written submission on the proposed Local Law to Council. All submissions received by Council on or before 3 August 2018 will be considered in accordance with section 223 (1) of the Act, by a Council (Section 223) Committee (‘Committee’).

If a person wishes to be heard in support of their submission they must include the request to be heard in the written submission and this will entitle them to appear in person, or by a person acting on their behalf before a meeting of the Committee scheduled to be held on Monday 13 August 2018 at 5pm.

Submissions may be made online or alternatively written submissions should be marked ‘Proposed Meeting Procedures (Amendment) Local Law’ and addressed to:

Please note that copies of submissions (including submitters’ names and addresses) will be made available at the Council or Committee meeting at which the above proposal will be considered. Council is also required to make submissions available for public inspection for a period of twelve months.
