Consultation has concluded
Council is planning a new fenced off-leash dog park at Roy Dore Reserve to help connect the community and provide open green-space for health and recreation activities.
Council was recently awarded funding as part of the State Government’s Local Parks Program, to help deliver new open space projects and upgrade the off-leash dog park. The existing gazetted dog park at Roy Dore Reserve was chosen due to the size, location and catchment of the Reserve.
The proposed works include:
New fencing around the perimeter of the site
Three chicane pedestrian and dog entrances on concrete slabs
A 1.8m wide granitic gravel circuit path around the park
“Nature play” dog activity areas including logs and boulders
A variety of surfaces for dogs to interact with, including grass, granitic gravel and mulch
A drinking fountain with dog bowl
New bench seating
A new bin with a dog waste dispenser
New canopy shade tree plantings
Ground cover plantings.
The site will be informally broken into different areas to allow dogs of different sizes and abilities to play safely in the park. Please see the plans below.
