Roy Dore Reserve Pavilion development and proposed dog area improvements
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on LinkedinEmail this link
As part of Council's commitment to improve its open spaces, we are preparing to roll-out major improvement works at Roy Dore Reserve.
Council is replacing the ageing pavilion with a new double-storey purpose-built facility that has been designed in partnership with local sporting clubs and other user groups.
Council is also seeking community feedback on a plan to fence the existing off-lead dog area to provide better separation between dogs and other park users.
Pavilion redevelopment:
The approx. $8million project (which includes a future upgrade at the tennis club) will be funded by the Victorian Government and Council.
It includes replacing the existing pavilion with a new double-storey facility featuring:
•Four changerooms, designed to be female-friendly
•Covered balcony viewing area
•Social area
•Umpires room
•Kitchen
•Space for Carrum Radio
Construction works are expected to begin in late 2019 and will take approximately 12 months, with sport to continue at the site during this time using temporary changeroom facilities.
A Traffic Management Plan would also be prepared to manage safe access to the reserve during the works.
Dog off-lead area
Council is proposing to fence-off the existing off-lead dog area at Roy Dore Reserve to provide better separation between dogs and other park users.
Option 1: Install fencing at location of orange dotted line in diagram below at the existing dog off-lead area.
Option 2: If required, also install fencing along the aqua dotted line in diagram below, to separate the pathway from the off-lead area.
Attend the community information session: When: Drop in anytime between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on Wednesday 1 May to find out more about the pavilion project and plans to fence the existing dog off-lead area. Venue: Roy Dore Reserve pavilion
Please note: The information bulletin sent to homes in the local area promoted the information event on 1 May however incorrectly listed that date as Thursday, when it is in fact on Wednesday. Apologies for any confusion caused.
