We’d like to hear from families who are past, current or future kindergarten service users about how they’d prefer to access three-year-old kindergarten. In a long daycare centre or a sessional kindergarten?
Your feedback will help us plan for when the Victorian Government starts rolling out its program to fund kindergarten for every three-year-old in Kingston.
How you can join the conversation:
The engagement for this project closed on 24 March 2021. Thank you to everyone who participated by either completing a survey or attending a focus group.
We are currently reviewing all the community feedback to prepare a consolidated report.
Learn more about the Victorian Government's funding changes
The Victorian Government currently provides funding to kindergarten services to ensure every child has access to kindergarten in the year before school.
Three-year-old kindergarten programs are available but currently receive no funding and parents pay the full cost of the service.
The Victorian Government has committed to providing funded kindergarten for every three-year-old from 2022. This means that all three-year-olds in Kingston will have access to five hours of funded kindergarten per week. These hours will increase up to 15 hours per week by 2029. This will support every child to have access to two years of kindergarten before they start school.
