Update on Warrigal Road Shopping Strip consultation

Consultation closed on Friday 12 June 2026

Thank you to everyone who took part in the recent consultation on our draft concept plan to improve the Warrigal Road shopping strip in Cheltenham. We were pleased to receive a strong response from both residents and traders, and we appreciate everyone who shared their feedback.

Based on the comments and questions received, we have developed a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs).

Feedback from traders and community has also informed updates to the concept plan for the shopping strip upgrade. The updates include changes to seating and bin locations, relocated planters and bicycle rack and new garden beds to provide more greenery. Detailed design is now underway based on the updated concept plan.

Further consultation with traders is planned for October, followed by a tender process later in the year. Works are expected to commence in Autumn 2027.

We look forward to keeping our community informed at key stages of the project as we continue working together to create a safer, more accessible and inviting shopping strip for everyone.

We’re improving the Warrigal Road shopping strip to create a place for all to enjoy!

We’re planning improvements to the Warrigal Road shopping strip in Cheltenham (between Allnutt Parade and 268 Warrigal Road) to create a safer, more accessible and inviting space for the community.

This much-loved local strip plays an important role in bringing people together, supporting local businesses and contributing to the area’s identity.

Our draft concept plan includes:

  • replacing the footpath in front of 268 – 280 Warrigal Road to improve pedestrian safety and accessibility
  • minor drainage improvements
  • a new accessible parking bay in Allnut Parade
  • new street furniture including seating, bins and bicycle hoops along the strip
  • new landscaping to make the shopping strip more vibrant and inviting
  • The proposed improvements have been carefully designed to support footpath trading opportunities for interested businesses and can be viewed in the attached concept plan.

We’re currently in the early planning stages and would love to hear your thoughts, to make sure we are on the right track.
