Beauty Spot Memorial Park covers an area of 1.2 acres, by the Carrum foreshore. It is a beautiful, peaceful place for outdoor recreational activities and has played a key role for local communities both in ANZAC day services and as a perpetual reminder of the human cost of wars.

The existing facilities in the park include

  • war memorial monument
  • shared pathway network for pedestrians and cyclists
  • open lawn area
  • barbeque and picnic facilities
  • picnic benches
  • a rubbish bin.

Park improvements
Council invests in continuous improvement to all open spaces in Kingston and it's Beauty Spot's turn for an upgrade.

Park improvements will aim to:

  • improve accessibility into and within the park
  • create a meaningful and iconic war memorial park for the community
  • create a multi-functional and adaptable space for diverse activities
  • encourage visitors of all ages to engage with the site and get their own insights into the wars involving Australia
  • enhance biodiversity and acknowledge the indigenous landscape.

To achieve this, Council has developed a draft concept plan, proposing:

  • new concrete step seating along the northern boundary
  • new accessible path with various memorial-related elements
  • upgraded benches, picnic seating and BBQ facilities
  • new native sensory garden with walkway
  • future art sculpture along the proposed path
  • new signage, drink fountain, bike racks, bollard lights and bin
  • new native planting and garden beds.
