As part of our commitment to improving parks and open spaces in Kingston, we’re excited to be planning for the upgraded playground at Brownfield Street Reserve in Mordialloc. A draft concept plan has been developed, and we would like to know your thoughts on the design.

Project background

The playground at Brownfield Street Reserve is surrounded by bushland, an open grassed area, and is the only playground serving the immediate area. Now over 20 years old, the playground has been identified as a priority for an upgrade, providing local residents with new and improved equipment for children of all ages, landscaping and new park furniture for all to enjoy.

Playground concept plan

The new playground area has been designed to offer an inclusive experience and play environment for all.

Highlights of the design include:

  • A dual swing set, junior swing and toddler swing
  • An accessible carousel providing play opportunities for different ages and social play
  • A junior and senior combination unit with slides, climbing ropes, twirl bars and fireman’s pole
  • Nature play area with timber log steppers and plantings
  • Seating, table and path improvements
  • Garden bed planting and trees for shade

Construction on the new playground is due to commence in late 2023 - early 2024.
