We're planning to give the Chelsea Heights Precinct a major revamp, by revitalising the Thames Promenade Shopping Strip, upgrading Heights Park and installing traffic signals to improve the safety of pedestrians and cyclists who need to cross Thames Promenade and Fourth Avenue in Chelsea Heights.

What we're planning

Heights Park is set to get a makeover, with a range of works planned, including:
A new shelter, picnic facilities and seating throughout reserve

  • Upgrades to the existing path network and new path connections
  • A new fence along Thames Promenade
  • Improved lighting and exploring wildlife friendly options for lighting throughout reserve, and
  • The protection and enhancement of existing significant native vegetation at the site.

We also plan to move the playground to a new home within Heights Park, and to add some fun new equipment!

We're giving the Thames Promenade shopping strip a freshen-up to improve your local shopping experience.
Plans are currently underway to:

  • Renew footpaths
  • Update landscaping
  • Install some new street furniture

We also plan to install traffic signals and safety upgrades at the intersection of Thames Promenade and Fourth Avenue.

As part of these works we will:

  • Install traffic signals with pedestrian push-button crossings, across Thames Promenade and Fourth Avenue.
Remove the informal central pedestrian refuge
Improve the shopping strip car park (maintaining the number of car parks and accessible parking)
Extend the distance of the 40km speed reduction during the school drop-off and pick-up times
Improve lighting at the intersection, and
Provide a separate right-turn lane on east approach (in addition to the through lane).
