About the project

As our community grows, the City of Kingston is planning for our changing kindergarten needs.

Highett, Moorabbin and Cheltenham are projected to have a 54% increase in children aged 0-4 over the next 15 years. Access to funded 3-year-old kindergarten is expanding and more of these children will be enrolled in kinder programs.

We want to understand your needs, wants and preferences for accessing sessional kindergarten services in Highett, Moorabbin and Cheltenham including:

  • where new kinder services should be located,
  • what kindergarten facilities should look and feel like and
  • what other early childhood services you would like to use nearby.

Whilst we are focusing on kindergarten provision in the Highett, Moorabbin and Cheltenham area, we would like to hear from the whole community.

Importantly, we want to hear from children and understand their values and needs for a kindergarten environment. We are asking parents of children aged 0-8 to complete a simple creative activity with your child so their views can be included.

Ways to have your say

  • Complete the online survey
  • Attend an online kindergarten readiness workshop with early childhood education expert Rachel Flottman
  • Complete the children’s artwork activity with your child
  • Complete a children's interview with your child
  • Complete a photo walk activity with your child
  • Register for an online stakeholder workshop (early education service providers and allied health professionals)
  • Email us at info@kingston.vic.gov.au

Your feedback will help us plan for future kindergarten and early years services that reflect our communities values and priorities.

Key Dates

  • Online Kindergarten Readiness Workshops: 7 September 10:30 am and 7:30 pm
  • Online Stakeholder Workshops: 14 September 10 am and 7 pm
  • Children's activities due: 26 September
  • Online survey closes 26 September
