Copy posted in the consultation:

Council is currently considering its approach to commemorative plaques and memorials in Kingston.

We are seeking community input to help develop a new policy to guide how and where personal memorials can be placed in Kingston.

What are the issues Council is seeking to balance?
Council is regularly approached by people seeking to have a memorial or plaque placed at a Council-managed park, reserve, foreshore or building to remember a loved one.

This can be a valued way for people to honour and remember people, particularly those who have played an active role in our community.

However some community members have flagged concerns that this needs to be done in a way that does not impact on other people's enjoyment of key public spaces or impact on the ability to meet community needs in the future.

We appreciate this is a sensitive topic for our community and want to make sure that any decision making in this area is done after careful consideration and connection with a broad range of community members.
