Consultation has concluded.

At Kingston City Council we are committed to enhancing the liveability of our city, which includes ongoing review of how well our existing public toilets are meeting the needs of our community.

We know from previous consultation that access to well-located, clean and safe public toilets is an important part of being able to enjoy recreational activity away from the comfort of our own homes, and with such a diverse range of local beaches, reserves, sports grounds, cycle & walking paths, wetlands, playgrounds and local retail strips there is so much to experience right on our doorstep.

With access to basic facilities so important to all of us, it is time to review how we are progressing with our goal to improve Kingston’s public toilets and would like to understand what is important to you.

Background information

We are currently halfway through the existing ‘Public Toilet Priority Action Plan’, endorsed within the 2016 Public Toilet Strategy. The Action Plan guides Council’s investment in renewing, replacing or removing public toilets. You can view the Action Plan and comprehensive Public Toilet Strategy document on the right-hand side of this page.

Over recent years, in direct response to this Action Plan, we have provided new facilities at a number of locations around Kingston including Bald Hill Park, Dingley Reserve, Gerry Green Reserve and Dales Park.

You may have also noticed a ‘Changing Places’ facility at Bicentennial Park, providing an accessible toilet space with ceiling hoist and a full-size change table. Supporting all members of our community to have safe, dignified and hygienic facilities. This year we are proud to be constructing new amenities at Peter Scullin Reserve, with this new toilet block including accessible public toilets alongside a Changing Places cubicle. These new amenities are scheduled to open in April 2022.

How do you think we are going with the rollout of the plan? How can we improve?
