Consultation has concluded

Council has commenced the statutory process to declare a Special Charge on all rateable land in the area of Lake Legana, Lake Illawong and Lake Carramar (Quiet Lakes) which has direct access to these lakes. The purpose of the Special Charge is to defray expenses incurred by Council in relation to beach maintenance for the Quiet Lakes. The works to be provided under the Special Charge scheme include beach planing; debris hand-raking, collection and disposal; beach spraying, beach sand retrieval and power supply and maintenance of lighting bollards.

The proposed declaration provides further details of the proposed Special Charge. The proposed declaration is also available for inspection until 30 June 2017 at Council’s Customer Service Centres at 1230 Nepean Highway, Cheltenham and 1 Chelsea Road, Chelsea (Co-located with the Library). It will also be available at the Patterson Lakes Library at 54 Thompson Road, Patterson Lakes.

Any person may make a submission under section 223 the Local Government Act 1989 and is entitled to request in their submission that they wish to appear in person, or to be represented by a person specified in their submission, at a meeting to be heard in support of their submission. A Committee comprising of the three South Ward Councillors, will hear submissions on Monday 10 July 2017 at 6.30pm at the Council Municipal Offices, 1230 Nepean Highway, Cheltenham.

Council proposes to declare the Special Charge, subject to due consideration of any submissions, at its Ordinary Meeting to be held at 7pm on Monday 24 July 2017 in the Council Chamber at 1230 Nepean Highway, Cheltenham.

Submissions close at 5pm on Friday 30 June 2017. They should be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer via:
