April 2021: Consultation 1 - proposal to name the pavilion at Roy Dore Reserve

We are partnering with the Victorian Government on a $9million investment into the sporting precinct at the reserve, which includes construction of a new main pavilion.

The site is used by a broad range of sporting and community groups including: Carrum Patterson Lakes Sports Club, Carrum Cowboys Football Club, Radio Carrum, Carrum Cricket Club, Carrum Patterson Lakes Junior Football Club, Carrum Patterson Lakes Football Netball Club, Long Beach Tennis Club and the Melbourne Thunder Masters Touch Rugby Club.

In April 2021 Council sought feedback on a community suggestion to name the pavilion ‘Guy Pavilion’ in recognition of the sporting and community contributions of the Guy family stretching back to 1921. This includes long-standing contributions of William, Wally, Eric, Ray, Ruby, Annie, Laura and Mena Guy (all deceased) on and off the field to the betterment of the Carrum football club. Present family members have also greatly contributed to the Carrum community including Ivan Guy.

The community was also able to provide alternate suggestions for consideration.

Results from this community consultation were mixed, with some supporting the idea and others suggesting alternatives.
