As part of our commitment to improving our open spaces in Kingston, we have developed a draft masterplan for Spring Road Reserve to guide the long-term planning for the site - and we want to hear from you! Did we get it right?

Project background

Last year, we consulted with the community to understand how they currently use Spring Road Reserve - and how they would like to use it in future. Detailed feedback revealed that the community desires:

  • Picnic areas with BBQ and shelters
  • Active spaces and nature play
  • More trees and garden beds
  • Improvements to the dog park
  • Toilet facilities
  • More benches and seating options
  • Exercise and fitness equipment
  • More paths and walking/running circuits
  • More formalised car parking

Project details

The draft masterplan has been developed with significant input from the community, clubs and stakeholders to ensure the reserve meets the community's needs now and in the future. Key areas for improvement identified in the draft masterplan include:

  • Enhanced Ecology (tree canopy coverage and biodiversity)
  • Acknowledgement (Indigenous cultural inclusion)
  • Connections and movement (paths and improved connections to surrounding areas)
  • Recreation (active spaces and a fenced dog park)
  • Reserve facilities (picnic areas, toilets, seating and parking)
  • Unique experiences
