Consultation has concluded
As part of Council's commitment to improve open spaces, we are continuing to roll-out works at Ben Kavanagh Reserve as part of the 2015 Master Plan which was developed to guide the future of the reserve.
Council has already completed a new pavilion and is now looking to provide two netball courts plus animproved playground and active recreation area for the community.
Netball courts The Victorian Government committed $500,000 for two netball courts to support female sporting participation. The courts will be available for public use outside Mordialloc Sporting Club’s netball activity usage times. It is proposed to locate the courts in the south-west corner of the Reserve. This location will ensure consistency with Netball Victoria facility standards while requiring the least amount of vegetation removal. It is also proposed that one of the 2 courts will be a multi-sport court to provide opportunities for casual hard-court activities.
Other improvements include a new shared path network, outdoor fitness stations and new active recreation spaces.
Playground The existing playground area will be upgraded to include:
• New play equipment – swings (toddler & senior),accessible nest swing, whirly go-round, double rocker,all-ages timber play tower, timber cubby, nature play
• Basketball/Soccer ½ court + skate ‘Wave’ walls and seater
• Open lawn ‘kickabout’ area
• Picnic shelter and tables, drinking fountain & bike racks• Fitness equipment located around the park• New playground fencing
• Garden bed and tree planting
