During community consultation, there was overall support for removing the perimeter fence and footpath along the southern edge of the outdoor gym areato improve accessibility and allow for more green spaceat the site.
We're excited to be planning for the upgraded outdoor gym at Bicentennial Park, Chelsea! Following community consultation earlier this year, we've developed a draft concept plan, and we'd like to know what you think. Did we get it right?
Project background
Our aim is to provide an accessible and inclusive space for a wide range of users with new contemporary outdoor gym equipment. During the initial round of community consultation, we heard that the majority of you would prefer:
Upper body strength equipment
Abdominal and back strength equipment
Lower body strength equipment
Body flexibility equipment
Cardio equipment
Additionally, there was overall support for removing the fence to improve accessibility at the site and ensuring the equipment selected supports senior adults and those undertaking physical therapy.
Project details
Your input helped shape the concept plan for the new outdoor gym (located west of the existing play space), and now we'd like to know if you support the concept plan, which includes:
Aerobic/Flex Unit - featuring an elliptical trainer, aerobic cycle and stretch station, suitable for cardio, body flexibility and senior adults.
Strength Unit - featuring equipment for chest presses, leg presses and pull-downs, suitable for upper body strength, lower body strength, abdominal and back strength and senior adults.
Static Strength Unit - featuring equipment for body pull-ups, push-ups, leg raises and step-ups, suitable for upper body strength, lower body strength, abdominal and back strength and senior adults.
Multi-Bench Unit - featuring multiple benches suitable for upper body strength, lower body strength and senior adults.
Double Pull-Up Unit - featuring equipment for chin-ups, suitable for upper body strength.
