As part of Council's commitment to improving its open spaces, we are developing a Master Plan for Bonbeach Sports Reserve to help guide the long-term planning for the site.
Council is seeking community and sporting club input to ensure the Bonbeach Sports Reserve Master Plan continues to meet the needs of the community now and into the future.
The overall aim of the master plan is to develop a strategic direction and vision for the Bonbeach Sports Reserve which considers specific matters which have been raised by the community and sporting clubs including:
Reuse of the Council depot and Chelsea SES sites
Overhitting relating to cricket usage
Improved facilities that encourage active recreation (non-sporting), particularly facilities for young people
Upgraded sporting facilities such as cricket nets, fencing and pavilions
Improvements to the sports field surface - Oval 5 and surrounds
Council is also continuing with endorsed facility improvements including sports lighting upgrades on Ovals 1 and 2 (AFL) and an upgrade to the gravel car park (next to the playground). Works for these projects are expected to occur early to mid-2021.
Project timeframe
We are having conversations with the broader community and tenant clubs throughout March 2021.
In the coming months, future community consultation opportunities will be provided, with your input crucial to the development of the Bonbeach Sports Reserve Master Plan. Your feedback will be considered and ensure the park continues to meet the needs of the community now and into the future.
Have your say
Council would like to find out about your experiences and what you would like to see.
