Consultation has concluded

As part of Council's commitment to improving its open spaces, we have developed a draft Master Plan for Bonbeach Sports Reserve to help guide the long-term planning for the site.

Council is seeking community feedback on the Master Plan to ensure the park continues to meet the needs of the community now and into the future.

The Master Plan considers:

  • What sporting requirements the current users have
  • The needs/interests of future users
  • The local community's passive leisure, sporting and recreational needs
  • The issue of ageing infrastructure
  • Safety and risk management
  • The location and orientation of infrastructure
  • How Bonbeach Sports Reserve links to nearby Long Beach Trail
  • Vehicle access and car parking.

What we've heard so far
In late 2020 we undertook community consultation to get feedback on how Bonbeach Sports Reserve is used currently and how the community would like it to be used in the future – thank you to everyone that provided input. This feedback was used to help shape the Master Plan. From 332 survey responses received from residents, the following five priorities was expressed:

  1. Car park improvements
  2. Improvements to Oval 5
  3. Junior pavilion upgrade
  4. Additional shade
  5. Pathway enhancements.

Key improvements identified in the draft Master Plan include:

  • Improvements to Oval 5 (east of the Reserve)
  • New cricket practice nets and multipurpose recreation space
  • Planned consolidation of pavilion facilities to the east of the Reserve
  • Landscape improvements including additional park seating, tree plantings and way finding
  • Expanded path and trail network and improved lighting
  • Formalised car parking.
