We’re excited to be planning a new, high-quality aquatic and leisure centre to help support the health and wellbeing of our community and we can’t wait to hear what you think about our draft concept plan!

Background

We’ve been working on plans for a new, high-quality aquatic and leisure centre in Mordialloc (next to Jack Grut Reserve) to help support the health and wellbeing of our community.

So far, there have been more than 5,200 community submissions into the process! You’ve told us you want your new centre to be a safe and welcoming space that celebrates its natural environment and is environmentally sustainable. You’ve already helped shape:

  • where it is located
  • the facilities it will include, and
  • how it will look and feel.

We’ve taken all this feedback and worked closely with our Community Reference Group (CRG) who have added important local perspectives to develop a Vision, Purpose and Design Principles for the new facility. And now, our design partner CO.OP Studio has developed an exciting draft concept design that brings it all to life!

What's in the new centre?

You have told us us that variety, accessibility and sustainability are important in the design of the new centre and these key themes all feature. The new centre will be fully electric to reduce emissions and accessible and welcoming to people of all abilities. The central elements of this indoor community aquatic centre include:

  • Four pools: multi-purpose lap swimming pool (50m), learn to swim pool, warm water exercise pool (therapy), and leisure pool
  • Gym and fitness facilities
  • Sauna and steam room
  • Café
  • Foyer, car parking, change rooms.

Tell us what you think about the draft concept design

Picture yourself moving through the new centre. Reflect on how you will get there, the areas you will use, and consider the external look and areas surrounding the centre.

We can’t wait to hear what you think and are keen for your feedback on things that will make it a truly enjoyable experience for you.

The full draft concept design can be found in the Document Library or click the image above to download a simplified version.
