We’re often told to think global and act local. Now’s your chance!

Help tackle climate change and promote sustainability - bring your thoughts and ideas about local solutions that could empower and inspire our community to an upcoming workshop.

You’ll meet others who have similar ideas and be guided on how to work together to develop a successful project.

Kingston City Council staff will be there to help discuss ideas and how we can collectively make them happen.

Some example ideas could be:

  • setting up a community energy project
  • establishing ride-to-work groups
  • encouraging households to electrify their homes
  • developing an advocacy campaign.

Register for one of the two workshops below

In May 2025, Council ran two workshops aimed at connecting like-minded members of the community, building capacity, developing community-focused projects and reducing emissions. The workshops attracted 35 participants and produced eight projects covering a range of topics including in-home energy efficiency, conservation volunteering, sustainability podcasting and co-ordination of a sustainability festival.

Officers are now working with community members to help them develop and deliver their projects in 2025.

Be alert for details of the community-led sustainability festival on 22 November!
