Consultation has concluded.
The Mordialloc Sailing Club, at the entrance to the Mordialloc Creek, is in line for a range of maintenance and renewal works during 2021. The proposed works will significantly freshen up the building exterior and protect against further weathering, offering the local community a safe, functional and attractive meeting space.
The proposed refurbishment works include:
Replacement of the existing timber windows with aluminium framed glazing.
Replacement of rusted fittings such as gutters and support brackets.
Installation of a new roller door into the main foyer.
Updating the stairway to the observation deck to be brought up to the current level of compliance, with the use of modern materials to ensure safety and durability into the future.
Internally, installing a new ceiling and wall linings to the main hall, improving this space for the range of community groups who access this facility in addition to sailing club members.
To finish the project off, it is proposed the existing wire fence around the boat storage compound is replaced with a PVC-coated product better suited to the coastal environment.
Completion of the project is anticipated to take a couple of months, with works most likely to be scheduled outside of the main sailing season.
The project is being funded from the programmed maintenance budget.
Council is seeking community feedback on the proposed works.
