We’re excited to be upgrading the playground at Namatjira Park in Clayton South! We know play is important to the community, so we are expanding the playground space to become two play zones.

Zone 1 includes an upgrade of the existing playground, while Zone 2 is an additional playspace that we are seeking to deliver (subject to funding) to futureproof play at Namatjira Park. The draft design, and both zones has been developed based off feedback received in 2025, and to offer an inclusive experience and play environments for all.

Zone 1

  • Double flying fox
  • Mega swing
  • Addition of a new custom multi-unit (featuring climbing elements and slides)
  • Bush hut cubby
  • Accessible carousel
  • Artistic seating

Zone 2

  • Climbing hut and timber play teepee
  • Multiple swing sets (for all ages and abilities)
  • Hand-carved totem pole, jungle drum, tactile sculpture and timber chimes
  • Talking tubes
  • Nature play

The existing large trees will be retained.

*Scope is subject to funding.

Designing your playground

In 2023, over 2,500 of our residents had their say about the future of play in Kingston - and it's clear: you love our playgrounds just as much as we do! Through a series of events and workshops, complemented by an interactive online survey and a playground design tool, we connected with a diverse range of our residents - from toddlers to seniors. Community feedback helped shape the Play Your Way Strategy - and our draft design for the upgraded playground at Namatjira Park in Clayton South!
