Redeveloping the Regents Park Pavilion
Consultation has concluded
As part of Council's commitment to providing improved sporting facilities at Regents Park, we are currently planning for the redevelopment of the sports pavilion to meet growing demand for netball, cricket and AFL facilities and provide more sporting and community facilities for the local area.
This project will cost $8.94M and is being jointly funded by Council, the State Government ($3.3M) and sporting club contributions.
Council has worked with the sports clubs to determine the current and future needs of the reserve, developed a clear vision and principles for this pavilion project (please see document Library). This document has helped inform the draft concept plans that aim to:
• Provide facilities that are fit-for-purpose and meet the needs of the sporting clubs, and community members, now and into the future
• Provide an inclusive and welcoming facility for all ages, genders, abilities, and backgrounds that will be the choice for membership and volunteerism
• Promote safe and optimal functionality to accommodate club, social and community use and participation.
Facility management
The new pavilion facilities are proposed to be managed under lease by the Edithvale Aspendale Sporting Club who will work in consultation with the tenant Cricket and Football Netball Clubs.
As part of the Club's proposed lease arrangement, a Venue Management Plan will be developed which outlines the roles and responsibilities of the Club throughout its lease period.
The objectives of the Plan are to; ensure good governance and compliance with relevant legislation, support effective day-to-day management, ensure the safety of members and visitors and to minimise the impacts of the facility’s operation with surrounding residents.
