Food is essential for good health, strong communities, and a healthy environment. It’s more than just what we eat - it connects us to each other, our culture, and our country.
The food choices we make often depend on what’s available in our local community.
In Kingston, we believe everyone should have access to fresh and affordable food. So, we’re looking at how people in our community connect with and access food.
Starting in Clayton South, we’re collecting information about places (outside of the home) where food is:
- grown
- bought
- provided
- cooked
- eaten
- learned about and
- thrown away
By creating a local food map, it will help us see what makes it easier (or harder) to access fresh, healthy, and culturally suitable food in Clayton South, and find ways to improve our food future.
