Background information
Council invites you to have your say on our design for Vanessa Court Reserve in Oakleigh South.
The reserve is currently underutilised and redevelopment will maximise the opportunities available for the large open space.
The Vanessa Court Reserve redevelopment concept plan can be viewed in the Document Library to the right and includes the following key features:
- Picnic table setting and shelter structure
- Concrete and granitic sand circuit path with bench seating
- Large open grass space with grass play mound
- Nature-based play space (examples in the Photos section to the right)
- Entry arbour surrounded by native planting.
Construction impacts
Prior to the redevelopment, the eight existing cypress trees which are interfering with neighbouring properties on the south of the reserve will be removed (see attached plan). This will occur in May/June.
A total of 32 new trees will be planted, which exceeds the current Council direction to plant three trees for each one removed.
Construction timeframes
Council will remove the cypress trees in May/June.
The Reserve design will be revised based on your feedback with construction due to commence in September.
The reserve will be open for you to enjoy before the end of 2021.
