Consultation has concluded

This year we developed our Draft Budget a little differently.

In stage one, we asked the community for their help to make Kingston the best place to live, work and play – through Talking Kingston.

Talking Kingston is an innovative, year-round consultation that invites the community to provide feedback and ideas on projects and initiatives to feed into future Council budgets.

Talking Kingston provides the community with early input and a greater level of influence over how Council invests its money into our city. Over 160 community submissions have helped shape the Draft Budget 2023/24 - thank you to everyone that contributed! You can view a summary of the submissions here.

Along with your Talking Kingston submissions, the following factors were considered when drafting the budget:

Funding our key community services including:

  • delivered meals and home care for our elderly residents
  • immunisation services, maternal and child health services, youth services
  • Libraries, arts programs and much more

Maintaining existing vital community assets including:

  • roads, footpaths and drains
  • our many community facilities including kindergartens and senior citizens centres

Delivering any new facilities our community needs including: sporting pavilions, life saving clubs and new playgrounds.

Responding to the Climate and Ecological Emergency including: new solar initiatives, street light conversion to LED and environmental efficiency upgrades.

We've balanced all of these needs to deliver a financially responsible draft Budget 2023/24, and now we'd like to know what you think of it as part of our Stage 2 consultation.
