You've been Talking Kingston, and we've been listening.

Over 724 community submissions were used to help shape the Draft Budget for 2025/26. Thank you to everyone who shared their feedback and suggestions for projects and initiatives to make Kingston the best place to live, work and play.

Talking Kingston

Through our Talking Kingston consultation, our community can provide input on our budget year-round and influence how we invest your rates. If you have a great idea you'd like considered for future budgets, let us know!

Draft Budget 2025/26

During the draft budget process, all Talking Kingston community submissions were considered, along with a range of factors, including alignment with current policies and strategies, funding our key community services, maintaining existing vital community assets and delivering any new facilities or initiatives our community needs. We're pleased to release the Draft Budget 2025/26 ahead of its adoption at the 23 June Council Meeting.

Please note: on page 66 of the Budget document (Capital Works Program), the detail of two projects (Carrum Indigenous Nursery Renewal project - $150k and Kingston Heath Soccer Pitch #5 - $400k) have been inadvertently omitted. While the project details are omitted, the associated funding has been included in the overall capital works budget total of $103.566 million. We apologise for the error and confirm that the projects will be correctly listed in the version of the Budget presented to Council for adoption at the 23 June Council Meeting.

Kingston Cost of Living Support

The rising cost of living is creating financial challenges for many. Our community have told us they’re finding it harder to make ends meet. That’s why we're proposing support to residents going through financial hardship - including discounts on rates, aged care services, leisure centre access, and pet registration. You'll be able to explore the full range of support options on our website following the adoption of the Budget in June.

In the meantime, sign up to our mailing list, and you'll be the first to know when the support packages are available.

Draft Council and Wellbeing Plan 2025-29

We have also released our Draft Council and Wellbeing Plan 2025-29. This plan was developed with the help of the Kingston Collaborative Engagement Group - a 48 person panel representative of the Kingston community. The panel worked together over a series of sessions to develop a set of recommendations that were delivered to the Kingston CEO and Councillors to help shape the plan. Feedback from 2,296 participants in the Kingston Liveability Survey and 1,000 people from the Health and Wellbeing Survey also helped inform the plan.

This plan represents our shared ambition for a city that is Healthy & Connected, Vibrant & Prosperous, Liveable & Sustainable, and Responsibly Governed. Find out more here
