Stories from our community

Scott Harrison, Kingston City Hall’s Chief Organist for the 'mighty' Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ, loves how Kingston celebrates diversity across cultures and values all its constituents. With nearly 40 years in his truly unique role, Scott has seen Kingston grow into the amazing city it is today.
Scott's favourite memories revolve around events he's performed at, like the 80th and 90th-anniversary celebrations of the Wurlitzer organ at Kingston City Hall, Melbourne Open House in 2023, and the 50-year celebration of Kingston City Hall in 2013.
For Scott, unsurprisingly, Kingston's best-kept secret is the magnificent 1928 Heritage-listed Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ itself, where it has dutifully sat at Kingston City Hall for almost 55 years!
Describing his perfect day, Scott would spend it attending public and civic events at Kingston City Hall and showcasing our city's beloved Wurlitzer organ to the community. Looking ahead, Scott hopes Kingston continues to evolve as a hub for the arts and to lead in cultural, sporting, and community activities, celebrating both traditional and emerging art forms.
Thank you for the music, Scott! Here’s Cheers to 30 Years!
